Nursing students
Instructions for social- and healthcare degree students (Nursing students)
Vaccinations according to the law
Section 48 of the revised Infectious Diseases Act governs the immunity of students participating in practical training, the aim being to protect patients. This section will apply from 1 March 2018.
Vaccination or personal history of disease for 1. Measles and 2. Varicella (chicken pox)
3. Influenza vaccination every year
4. Pertussis (whooping cough) vaccination those caring for children under 1-year-old
When coming from high polio risk country polio vaccinations are necessary.
Students are also recommended to have up-to-date tetanus + diphtheria vaccination.

Hepatitis B vaccination
Nursing students are entitled to receive hepatitis B –vaccination free of charge at Student Healthcare. There are three vaccinations altogether at the schedule 0, 1, 6 months.
MRSA-tests
MRSA-tests are taken once from all the students originally coming to Finland outside of Nordic countries. Contact student healthcare.
Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis assessment is performed for students who:
1. were born in a country with a very high incidence of tuberculosis
2. have lived at least 12 months or worked in healthcare for at least 3 months in a country with very high incidence of tuberculosis
3. have been in close contact with a patient with contagious pulmonary tuberculosis
